Greetings, and welcome to ClubRiada! At Riada we're thrilled to bring you the first exciting issue of our new monthly newsletter, ClubRiada, to keep you, our valued club members up to date with the latest happenings at Riada.
As many of you may know, we've had a tremendous year at Riada and we've been particularly busy in the last month or so, releasing *four* new products. The first of these new products, RiadaHeadline, has already received positive recognition from the premier Java/Sun site, Gamelan, categorizing it as "What's Cool". PCWin has also given RiadaHeadline a definite thumbs up, stating that "This nifty little program does everything it claims. There is not one part of this program that is hard to use." Check out the review for yourselves at www.pcwin.com. Other products released recently by Riada include RiadaBillboard and RiadaLinx.
We are also thrilled to announce the release of RiadaLock on the same day as delivery of this newsletter, and continuing our commitment to great Java based web tools that are simple to use, we'll be releasing more products in the near future, with many "secret" goodies to come.
In ClubRiada you'll find a short introduction summarizing the exciting events that have taken place at Riada each month, a News section providing details of any new products Riada has released, and discussion of any exciting Internet issues. You'll also find a Hints section, where you can send us your hints and tips for any Riada products, which we'll post in subsequent editions of ClubRiada. In our next issue we'll introduce the RiadaGallery, where we'll feature your "Riada enabled" web site for all our members and any other interested parties to see - all you have to do is send us your URL. We'll even throw in a competition or two from time to time:-)
At Riada, we're proud of the reputation we have developed for excellent customer service and support, and we welcome any suggestions or comments you may have regarding our current products, or any suggestions for new software you'd like to see! Java Developers Conference, 28th October, Melbourne, Australia
Representatives from Riada attended the Java Developer's conference in Melbourne, Australia, last month. The conference provided some interesting speakers such as Nova Spivack, one of the founders of Gamelan, Steve Outtrim, founder of Sausage Software, and representatives of Sun Microsystems and JavaSoft.
The conference provided a useful forum for discussion on the history of Java, it's current position, and future direction. Perhaps the most contentious issue raised at the conference the Sun vs Microsoft legal struggle currently being battled out in the U.S. courts.
RiadaHeadline released October 3rd, 1997

RiadaHeadline, a Java based web tool that dynamically displays text based information to web site visitors, has become an instant success.
RiadaHeadline has many exciting features that enable novice web developers complete control over appearance, presentation and even content of information displayed by RiadaHeadline. For example, out of date headlines may be removed automatically without altering any HTML code, by specifying when they will expire in RiadaHeadline.
Before developing RiadaHeadline, we decided to focus on providing simple to use web tools that solve the problems of web developers. The review at PCWin will attest to the achievement of this with RiadaHeadline.

RiadaBillboard released October 17th, 1997

Friday October 17th saw the release of RiadaBillboard on the Internet. RiadaBillboard has also quickly become an extremely successful and popular web tool.
RiadaBillboard displays images either sequentially, or randomly with more than 20 eye-catching transitions to choose from. RiadaBillboard is not limited to use with advertising banners. You can specify the size of the project and use any size images with any sort of content you desire.
If you have a problem with cluttered images on your web site, RiadaBillboard can solve this problem for you.
In keeping with our design philosophy, RiadaBillboard is simple to use and solves the problems web developers commonly encounter. The success of RiadaBillboard supports the achievement of this design goal.

RiadaLinx released October 24th, 1997

This unique product creates, maintains, validates, rates and displays links on your web pages without the constant need to edit HTML or Java code.
RiadaLinx also provides a unique and interesting interface for web site visitors to a web page, through which they can interact with your site.
If you have experienced the problem of maintaining a links page on your web site, then this unique product may be what you have been looking for.

RiadaLock released November 7, 1997

RiadaLock, our latest product, has been released on the same day as the first issue of this newsletter, and we are sure it will also become an instant success.
RiadaLock is a Java based web tool that allows you to "lock up" your web site with password protection, limiting access to authorized users only. Web site protection has never been simpler. Using the intuitive design environment, simply add a user along with a password, and specify the URL to by jumped to when a user logs in correctly. It's that simple!
RiadaLock projects enable a high degree of customization. Various interface components such as colors, size, audio and messages are completely controllable.
If you have ever wanted to "lock up" your web site, or even restrict part of it, then RiadaLock is the solution to the problem.

HINTS

RiadaBillboard 1.0
RiadaBillboard is a lot more than a groovy scrolling advertising banner. One interesting application for RiadaBillboard suggested to us by a ClubRiada member was to use the product as a site navigation tool.
This person downloaded image files representing their web site pages (you could even use a simple paint program to add text labels to the images for extra clarity) and then used RiadaBillboard to create a "slide show" of the images, using the many fantastic transitions that RiadaBillboard has to offer, such as fade, reveal, swipe, checker. As RiadaBillboard allows you to specify a URL to jump to when an image is clicked, a nifty site navigation tool can be created, that uses less space on your web site, and has eye catching transitions between each slide displayed.
RiadaHeadline 1.0
In a recent review of RiadaHeadline given by PCWin, an interesting suggestion for using RiadaHeadline was to "schedule RiadaHeadline to tell your employees or members Happy Birthday. Set the dates one time and let the program make you look good all year long."
Another interesting use of RiadaHeadline was mentioned to us by a ClubRiada member, who uses it to display site information for visitors. In this example, the RiadaHeadline project on their web page displays site credits, site information and contact information.
